Photo Connotations Exercise

STRENGTH
This image shows a boy looking up to the top of the right hand side of the screen with his hand on his chest looking proud. this connotes strength because he looks strong and proud.

This is a low angle shot as the camera is looking up at the boy, this shows strength and authority.









POVERTY
This image shows a warn out bin, full of rubbish and a dirty painted wall. This connotes poverty because its dirty and there is rubbish everywhere

This is a wise shot because it shows all the junk and mess around the bin.

LOVE
This image shows two boys cuddling up on the grass while staring into each others eyes. this connotes love because they are looking loving into each others eyes.

This is a birds eyes view because the camera is looking down on the couple and portraying their love.

















FEAR
This image shows a boy walking alone into a dimly lit corridor with the look of fear on his face. This connotes fear because he's alone, he's in a slightly dark corridor with only some light and he's looking back on himself.

This is a medium long shot because it shows his top half to his knees. This shot distance helps the audience to see that he is alone.

DESIRE
This image shows a girl looking at a jeep/car. This connotes desire because the girl wishes she had the car/wishes she could drive the car.

This is an over the shoulder shot as the camera is focused on the object just in front of the girl.

DANGER
This image shows a boy balancing on a very high skip which he could fall in at any time. This connotes danger because the look on his face and his body stance shows that what he is doing is dangerous.

This is a long shot because long shots show danger and the boy balancing on the rim of the skip is dangerous.

WEALTH
This image shows a boy standing next to an expensive car. This connotes wealth because it shows that the boy has money to own an expensive and shiny car.

This is a wide long shot because you can see the whole of the boy and the shot has to be big enough to see the whole of the car too.

WEAKNESS
This image shows a boy being small and weaker than the other boy standing above him. This connotes weakness because the boy on the floor looks intimidated by the taller boy.

this is a low angle over the shoulder shot because the camera is pointed down towards the smaller boy. This could also connote bullying because it looks like the taller boy is picking on the smaller one because hes crowding over him and the smaller boy has his legs up to his chest for 'safety' and his work is all over the floor.

LONELINESS
This image shows a girl sitting by herself away from the group of people in the far distance. This connotes loneliness because she is looking over towards the group of people wishing she could have friends.

This is a long shot because the girl is further away from the camera and the distance in the shot shows the distance away from the other people.
